The foundation for your success – BASF materials for construction

Public buildings, industrial and office buildings play a key role in our economic and social environment. With our products for the construction sector, cooling units and caravaning we help to make your application energy-efficient, more durable and economic.

Many branches of industry depend on quick, reliable and flexible solutions for their sector. We supply you with the materials for efficient, long-lasting and cost-effective new and modernized buildings. In doing so, we offer architects and planners greater scope for creativity and design. Elastopor® and Elastopir® systems are an integral part of multi-layered construction elements with polyurethane core and diffusion-tight metal facings. Construction elements with these top-performing polyurethane foams permit flexible planning, are easy to install and have wide-ranging uses – from roofs and walls down to the floor.

In addition to industrial buildings we supply solutions for all parts of the cooling chain, from cooling trucks to containers and cooling units. Caravaning, air-conditioning and ventilation as well as sectional and rolling doors are also areas of application where polyurethane products secure superb performance.

Polyurethane for insulation of commercial and industrial buildings

Rigid polyurethane foams like Elastopor® and Elastopir® are mostly used for wall and roof elements for industrial buildings. With intelligent sandwich technology, it is possible to comply with today's standards in anything from normal industrial shops through to all parts of the cold chain, from refrigerated vehicles and containers through to cold stores. Insulation panels with a polyurethane core in sandwich elements for facades and roofs achieve the optimal combination of thermal insulation and excellent mechanical and physical properties.

Refrigerated vehicles and Containers

Sandwich elements with polyurethane core offer outstanding thermal insulation which is continuous and free of thermal bridges. For refrigerated vehicles and containers as well as shipping containers it helps you save energy and prevents breaks in the refrigeration supply chain.

The camper of the future: The new concept caravan VisionVenture

The VisionVenture concept vehicle jointly developed by BASF and HYMER is a near-series preview of the future of motorhomes. The concept vehicle sets standards in terms of lightweight construction, self-sufficiency, travel experience and design.

More than 20 high-performance plastics and a new coating technology from BASF are used in the concept motorhome and score points with many different properties. BASF and HYMER, for example, are using several novel lightweight materials and processes in the interior and exterior, which provide more comfort and at the same time make the vehicle more robust.

The polyurethane rigid foam Elastopor® is used in several ways: as a construction element in the side walls and for insulating the refrigerator. In VisionVenture, BASF has combined its two innovative high-performance insulating materials SLENTEX® and SLENTITE® for the first time. The solid panel material SLENTITE® is used in refrigerators, door panels, window frame profiles and underfloors. SLENTEX® shows its strengths as highly efficient, safe and space-saving thermal insulation for batteries, engine compartments, ovens and stoves.

Thanks to the world innovation Veneo Slate® there is a new combination of plastic and natural stone. The material is based on the compact, non-foamed polyurethane Elastocoat® and has a thin and extremely light layer of real slate on its surface.

True freedom requires independence – and the VisionVenture makes this possible through intelligent use of materials for energy management, thermal insulation and electrical components.

Polyurethane for doors and roller shutters

Well-heated industrial shops also need effectively insulated sectional and industrial doors with polyurethane core – so that the heat stays at the workplace and energy loss does not send costs spiraling. With the professional thermal insulation of a polyurethane core for roller shutters and garage doors of private homes, the garage becomes a thermal buffer for the house as a whole.

Polyurethane for air-conditioning, ventilation and cooling systems

In the air conditioning and ventilation sector, polyurethane construction elements also impress with their low thermal conductivity and their exceptionally high standards of hygiene. Elastopor® meets high demands on statics and mechanical functions. In addition, the sandwich panels offer great design freedom while being particularly light-weight.

Elastopor® sets standards in the insulation of pipelines

High temperature stability, best insulating properties, long service life and a simple processing method distinguish Elastopor® also in the field of pipe insulation.

In oil and gas pipelines, industrial pipes and in the field of district heating and cooling, the polyurethane rigid foam shows its strengths to the full. BASF offers customized systems for all production technologies.
